走りは悪くないけど異音が気になる47Chief。
エンジンよりはトランスミッションから聞こえる様な気がします。
点検していきましょう。

This '47 Chief runs good,but it has a noise little bit. I think it's heard from the transmission. I'll check it out.

メインシャフトのプレイがガタガタ。プレイ.098?? かなり大きい。

Main shaft is too much play.

Play .098? is pretty big.

トランスミッションタワーを開けてケース内を点検。

Open the transmission tower and check the inside of the case.

メインシャフトのスラストワッシャーが一枚足りません。
プレイが大きいのはコレですね。

There is not thrust washer on the main shaft.
That's why this was the big play.

プライマリー周りの点検

Check around the primary

なんとクラッチベアリングのレースが割れているのを見つけました。これは初めて見ました。
異音の原因はこれかな？

I found that the race of the clutch bearing was broken. I saw this for the first time. Is this the reason for the noise?

クラッチハブ。ロックワッシャーがいまいちで少しゆるんでいました。

Clutch hub.

The lock washer was not good and little loose.

クラッチは消耗が激しく交換時期。

The clutch is heavily worn and it's time to replace it.

クラッチハブも段付きになっていて要交換。

The clutch hub also needs to be replaced.

汚れがこびりついています。

It's smeared with grime.

エンジンスプロケットのロックワッシャーが効いていません。

The lock washer on the engine sprocket is not working.

クラッチスプロケットギアに何かの破片が挟まっていました。何処から来たのか調べる必要があります。

Some piece of metal was caught in the clutch sprocket gear. I need to find out.

クラスターギアのスラストを点検していたらブッシングも動いた様に見えたので、マーキングして確認。まさかのブッシングがクルクル回っていました…オーバーサイズに交換が必要ですね。

When I check the thrust of the cluster gear, the bushing seemed to move, so I marked it and checked. The bushing was spinning around... It needs to be replaced for oversize.

ブッシング交換はトランスミッションケースを下ろす必要があるので一気に仕事が増えます…

Bushing replacement needs to take off the transmission case, which increases work at once...

点検しながら分解

Disassemble and checking

エンジンマウント、オイルライン、キャブ等も全て外してエンジンを少し前にずらさないとミッションケースは外れません…

The transmission case cannot be removed unless the engine mount, oil line, carb, etc. are all removed and the engine is moved forward a little bit...

クラスターギアを外すとブッシングも一緒に外れました…
さらに沢山の破片を発見。

When I removed the cluster gear, the bushing also came off...
I found many more debris.

破片を組み合わせるとメインシャフトのスラストワッシャーの形に見えます。多分メインシャフトのスラストワッシャーが割れて粉々になってシャフトの遊びが大きくなったんだと思います。

今回、分解点検して色々見つかって良かったです。
今は調子良く走っている車両でも80年近い古い車両なので、分解、点検すると色々ありますよね。

Combined with piece of metal, it looks like a thrust washer on the main shaft. I think the thrust washer on the main shaft broke and shattered, increasing the play on the shaft.

I think it was good I found some problems after check this time.
Even if it's running well now, it's almost 80 years old, so there are a lot of things when I disassemble and check.
